Clayton was born and raised in Washington's Apple Country and then served in the U.S. Army. Clayton served 4 years as a Mortuary Affairs Specialist. He deployed frequently throughout the world to lead or assist in Mortuary Affairs. He was deployed to Germany, The Central Identification Laboratory Hawaii, The Pentagon in Washington D.C. (FBI 9/11) and Kandahar, Afghanistan. He completed his training at Fort Knox attaining the rank of Sergeant. Supported by the GI Bill; Clayton obtained a degree in Mortuary Science and then went on to receive accreditation from the International Conference of Funeral Service Examining Board. In 2016, he purchased Veile Mortuary.

Marilynn is a Worland native and retired in 2022 after dedicating many years to the banking industry in Worland. Marilynn and her husband, Frank, have one son, Trenton who resides in Lander with his wife Shelly and son Hayden.
